| Welcome
to the website of the Warwick University Live Action Role-Play Society, or
LARPS.
Role-playing is a hobby where you create a character, and portray his or her actions, and reactions to the people and events that they meet. Role-playing takes many forms, but most commonly there will be an adventure to complete or a problem to solve. Traditionally, role-playing takes place around a table, with the players describing their characters' actions, and using dice or other methods to resolve physical problems like combat. In live role-playing, we dress up as our characters, and go to a venue and physically act them out. This can be a very intimidating prospect if you're not used to the idea, but once you get into the swing of things, it becomes second nature. Warwick LARPS welcomes all role-players, however experienced or otherwise you may be. Many of our members had never tried any form of role-playing before joining the Society, but have found our introduction to the hobby easy to follow. Although a University Society, we are happy to accept any and all members. Our main game is Scarred Lands, our in-house low fantasy system which runs on Sunday afternoons. If the fantasy genre isn't your bag, we also offer other games, including Vampire, a horror-tinged game of political intrigue and machinations, and murder mystery nights, which are Agatha Christie-style whodunnits. LARPS can be joined via the Warwick University Students' Union. If you want more information, why not get in touch with the exec, or investigate our forums? |
